Hydraulic Press Brakes - Technology
In industries, there are three types of
press breaks viz. mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic press brakes. The
mechanical press uses crank mechanism, which is in a compartment with an
energy wheel drive. Pneumatic and hydraulic presses use air pressure and
pressure of hydraulic oil as energy source respectively. Pneumatic press
brakes take small area in the field of sheet metal and are used mainly in
industrial sites, where the production process does not require great
effort. The hydraulic presses are characterized by various parameters such
as:
- Force and the working length
- Amplitude
- Distance between the frame uprights
- Availability of the device deflection compensation table
- Availability of additional accessories that enhance productivity
of work
- Support for the workpiece

Initially, mechanical and pneumatic presses dominated the industries.
However, with the development of technologies and higher requirements of
enterprises, hydraulic presses started dominating the market, as they
provide several advantages over mechanical and pneumatic presses. Some of
the advantages that hydraulic press breaks have over others are high quality
of manufactured products, high reliability, lower level of the risk of staff
injury and low energy consumption. Further development of technology has
enabled the introduction of new systems of governance and security, which
has several new features. Some of these features are:
- Graphical user interface with the possibility of automatically
calculating the bending sequence of operations
- Job step program
- Protection of the operator control device
- Overload protection devices
- Possibility of electronic adjust the speed of progress of
cross-beams
- Use of additional hardware
- Operating synchronously with the process of bending - the front
of the workpiece support
- Sensor monitoring the received angle of bending
- Other custom improvements
